In Burundi, there are two major traders that sell green coffee beans. Salum Ramadhan is the only independent producer in the whole country. He owns his own farm and four washing stations and can operate completely independently of any external interference. This allows us to access and roast for you some totally unique profiles!
Located at around 1800-1900 metres above sea level (m.a.s.) in Kayazna, Northern Burundi, Salum works with over 8700 farmers in the area and has access to around 7000 trees.
Like all the coffee that we source and as a quality incentive (i.e. to select only ripe cherries), Salum is paid and pays his farmers considerably higher than the local market price.
We have chosen to roast this profile on the darker end of the spectrum to offer a balanced result between the nuttiness and the original notes of the beans.
We recommend brewing this bean with any gravity drip (e.g. Chemex, Kalita, V60).
